The asian lady bug was transported into Florida by the Citrus growers to control aphids that were eating the foliage and spreading disease among their trees. They have few natural enemies and reproduced and spread very rapidly. They reached Indiana a few years back. It was inevitable they would move up in to Canada as they expanded their range. They don't have the plethera of pathogens that keep them in check in their native lands. Two things that show they are the imports are they have white on their faces and unlike the native North American ladybugs the Asians bite humans. Like the Killer bees they got away from the very intelligent scientists who imported them without considering the consequences.
