What supplies do mst bartenders bring to use on the job?
Q. To be completely prepared for the shift exactly what supplies does a bartender want to bring to the bar? So far the list is a towel, and a cutting knife. Tip jar is optional because not all bars allow or operate with tip jars out. And a vermouth sprayer is optional also. Some bars also have shakers availible but some do not.

A. The only thing that most bartenders and waiters I know carry is their own wine key (cork puller) and foil cutter. As for just about anything else, they make due with whatever the place has got. I've seen bartenders buy some supplies such as drink shakers for the bar when it didn't have them (paid for by the bar). It's just too hard in a busy place to keep track of your own stuff. Why the wine key? Welll ... 1. They get lost or carried off easily ... so its good to always have your own in your pocket. 2. They can take some practise to use well, so best to have one that you have experience with. 3. Most importantly ... You are just flat out screeewed without one. What tools and supplies do I need to buy to start building furniture and decor out of twigs and sticks?
Q. I have a HUGE slash pile that I want to turn into furniture and usable items. I'm a big fan of rustic / lodge furnishings and decor, and would like to try my hand at making some myself. What kind of tools do you recommend I buy? What other supplies? Until I know whether I can do this, I don't want to invest in expensive power tools or a workbench. Just the basics. I have a hammer and screwdrivers, and that's about it. Ideas?? Also, what tool would I use to scratch designs into the wood?

A. I know you say you don't want to invest in power tools or a bench, but they really are (at least the bench) the foundation of modern woodworking. I would first tell you to spend a day at your local library reading up on furniture making and working with raw wood. You will find a huge amount of resources at your disposal. In addition to your current tools, I would recommend: a spokeshave, Gorilla glue (don't use too much!), garden clippers (make great 90 degree cuts in thin green wood), good heavy twine or jute rope, interior/exterior polyurethere, a good handsaw and invest $40 or so in a power jig saw. It's a very versatile tool and I think you'll use it frequently. I would also buy at least 4 clamps (hand or screw).

What are some important hurricane supplies when you have a baby?
Q. My brother and sister inlaw aren't too bright. With Tropical Storm Fay possibly being a Hurricane by the time it hits my family my mom is worried they won't be properly prepared. What are some additional supplies one must have on hand for a baby? Anything special you wouldn't necessarily stock up on for just older kids/adults? Also the baby gets congested very easily, needs a dehumidifier in his room at night...how can they keep him feeling well with no air conditioning if power is lost?

A. bottled water formula (if not breastfeeding ) a can of powdered formula would be best since the powder dosen't need to be refrigerated if needed just pour water into bottle add the right amount of powder shake bottle and feed baby. baby food ( if eating ) a few bottle ( just to make sure) playtex drop ins are good if baby would take them because you would only have to wash the nipple and ring a few diapers and wipes a few soft yous some cloths baby blanket a pacifier ( if baby takes one )
