Where can you buy different paint supplies in the Philippines?
Q. National has limited supply of paint supplies and they don't even have black fine tip paint markers. I seriously need to know where I can find different art supplies here in Manila. Any suggestions?

A. If you are looking to find certain products, or suppliers. Or if you are looking to promote your own business in the Philippines, I suggest you visit bizeen. It's a website with the list and profiles of businesses in the Philippines.

What supplies do I need to start oil painting?
Q. Please list quality brand names for the art supplies, too, and a good oil painting video and book. I don't really have a budget in mind, so just pick the best quality.
Asked by Torsten - Mon May 17 04:06:44 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I just went to the art store today to start some oil painting experiments. You'll need; Natural hair brushes, nothing taklon or synthetic, things like hoghair and sable are fine. Turps to clean the brushes. These will eat synthetic brushes, which is why you need naturals. Linseed oil to thin the paint. You can use turps for this but it takes away the colour and vibrancy. Oil paints (duh) I'd also suggest some paper or canvas boards so you can get a feel of it before you do something serious :)

What supplies/tools will I need to make a simple glass bead necklace and bracelet?
Q. I am interested in making my own glass bead jewelry, but I have no idea where to start or what to do. I've checked a couple websites but they use terms I don't understand or the directions are too confusing. What would be a good glass bead project for me to start off on, and what basic supplies and tools do I need to buy to start this hobby? Thanks!
Asked by BNKsMomma - Tue Jan 30 14:27:00 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. when I wanted to start a few months ago I went to the craft store and bought a cheap beginner kit. It has what you need to make just practice pieces, once you get familiar then you can start spending the money on the glass beads that are available. I personally switched to crystal once I got the hang of it. Super easy and fun to do. I believe the beginner kit will also come with your basic tools. Good Luck

Like posters, and stuff to price the stuff. I'm going to sell clothes stuff animals and other stuff i find... what prices are reasonable to an item. Would 5$-4$ work for clothes or...? any tips to!!! thanks!!! also where to get the supplies! aw...i was going to use the x-tra $ for spring break shopping...why does the economy have to be so low these days???!!!???
Asked by Bee happy - Mon Mar 15 18:37:13 2010 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments

A. I also started a garage sile (my first) last summer. Promise you, do not waste too much on decorations and advertising. What I did is printed several letter ads and gave them to neighbors (worked very nicely, gained me a lot of paying customers!!!). For decoration, I recycled carton as my display boards for easy find, which easily caught driving by people. I categorized items by table, using sticky notes as price markers. Clothes work at $3 (economy these days would not work in used $5 clothes) and stuffed toys at $2-$1 depending on size. I earned $75 at my first day!!!

A. you have got some pretty good answers hear- supplie wise, along with lots of the brushes listed- i would also get a sweat scraper they help a lot, and also if you went and got a towel too- helps rub down the horse if needed, also make sure you get nice tack that will hold up good- (breast collar- bridle- tie down- saddle- etc.) i have been barrel racing so many times and i have rode and during the run my reigns have broke one time my brest collar broke around a turn and my saddle slipped to the side, be sure to always tighten your cinch before a barrel run too, good luck im sure you will love it!!!;-)

What supplies does a beginner need to knit a scarf?
Q. I have no experience with knitting, but would like to knit something. What sort of supplies do I need, other than needles and yarn? Also, what size needles is recommended for knitting scarves or for beginners?
Asked by Anita - Tue Jul 31 23:08:25 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. On the label of 99% of yarns, there is a "gauge recommendation". It tells you how many stitches and how many rows are in a 4" swatch with a certain sized needle (and usually crochet hook too). This is only a rough estimate for sizing, but the needle they use is the suggested size. Watch out for both the US #x and the x.xx mm. Needles should be labeled with both too. I would recommend a smooth yarn for first time knitters. It's easier to see how the stitches fit together and correct mistakes. Needles come in a variety of materials. Spend the extra few dollars and get the clear (glass-like hardness) acrylic or metal needles. The pearly plastic ones are cheap and a pain in the @$$ to work with.

A. Quality food is always a must, try to get one that's low carb and low grain, some cats (like mine) have allergies to the grain, and they don't need them anyway, it's just filler to help the food stick together and make the cat feel more full. Someone else mentioned organic food too. The quality food is always more pricey, mine is about $45 for a large bag, but I have 5 cats here, so you probably won't have to pay that much. The upside is that they eat less of it that the less expensive brands, so you end up saving money in the long run. Good litter, I like the crystal blends, they track less, last longer, and smell better than scoopable. But scoopable is just as good too. Duh, almost forgot, a small litter pan, and a large one for when it… [cont.]

What are the supplies that you need for third graders to decorate cupcakes in the classroom?
Q. We will have pre-made the cupcakes, but the kids will be decorating them. What supplies should we bring that are fun, and for easy clean-up? Also, are there any worksheets/coloring sheets or color by numbers that they should have to do before getting a cupcake?
Asked by anonymous - Sun Jun 17 19:03:23 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I do this with my kindergarten class all the time. You will need: 1-2 tubs of ready made icing. Food Coloring--- to color the icing whatever color you want it to be. Small paper plate for each child. Popsicle stick--- for each child to spread the icing on their cupcake. Assorted sprinkles, color sugar, and cupcake decorations. You can also use jelly beans, m&m candies, marshmallows, or red hot candies. It is according to what reason you are decorating cupckes. Look on the internet for ideas. Give each child a cupcake on the paper plate, one spoonful of icing and have them spread the icing. Then allow them to choose the toppings they want to use to decorate the top. Have fun!

A. awsum! i use to have two male gerbils too... the only things you will NEED is a cage (anything they cant chew through, no cardboard), litter (you can use shredded paper but it smells bad, its safe just to buy rodent litter at the pet store) , food (any hamster/gerbil food...they also love peanuts and sunflower seeds, with shells on) and water. this is all you need. some fun things to buy is tubes. at the pet store you can find some plastic colorful tubes, and gerbils just love these! another fun and cheap thing is and empty toilet paper roll or a small box. they love to play in the rolls and chew them up, as for the box they can sleep in this and also chew it up... chewing up is good because gerbils teeth never stop growing, this way it… [cont.]

What supplies do you need after giving birth?
Q. I'm throwing my sister a baby shower and I wanted to get her like an "after birth kit". Since I've never given birth, I'm not sure what she will need! I want to give her stuff that she will need at the hospital. She is having a planned C-Section. Also, since there are probably less supplies needed when having a c-section versus vaginal delivery, what are some supplies she can use at home to help during the recovery period?
Asked by sarasoreo - Tue Jun 23 23:36:26 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You could pack her up a pretty bath robe for her to lounge around in, some fluffy socks, aspirin, yummy flavored hot tea packages, and a box of chocolates! Also, don't forget to include some aspirin cause she'll need it. You could include some fun magazines and a few dvd's for her to watch while she's recuperating in the hospital, as hospitals tend to get a little boring. Good luck! :)

A. oils or acrylics...a good set of brushes, different sizes and shapes, appropriate to the paint, several canvases..pre-stretched and pre gessoed, need not buy the expensive ones..go with the cheaper ones to begin with...mix up the sizes, small to large, to give him some choice, a basic set of paints...get the basics...a disposable palette pad, maybe a palette knife or two...if you choose oils, a bottle of refined linseed oil and a can of turpenoid, to clean the brushes...and easel if you have a good budget, but its not vital to the effort... wow he's a lucky man...great present idea..have fun...but it really wont be terribly cheap, but oh could be so worth every dime...try to look for sales and shop a little at a time

What are the must have supplies if you want to pursue photography as a career?
Q. What is a good camera, what software is needed, and what other supplies would be helpful? I am trying to break into the photojournalistic side of photography and want to start off with the right equipment.
Asked by dan h - Wed Jun 11 15:44:04 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Your main equipment is your knowledge and skill. Know the technical side, all about ISO's apertures, shutters, focal lengths, depth of field, etc. etc. Then know the composition rules. Then know about lightning and how to do good shots in field conditions, where you don't control the light. Once you know all of that in theory, you should be able to apply this knowledge in practice very quickly. The thing about photojournalism is that you need to shoot the events when they happen and as they happen, so you shouldn't stop and think if this aperture is good for this kind of situation. You should know it right away. Then, once you have all that - you will probably know what kind of camera you need. So right now, before you know all the… [cont.]
